The results of yesterday’s Virginia Democrat-inspired redistricting referendum, where the Democrats’ gerrymandering plan won 51.5%-48.5%, were certainly odd, but it was no surprise.
It was odd in the sense that Republicans at the national level – the Republican National Committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee, etc. – seemed to pay no mind to the election that could decide control of the House of Representatives, and with it the future of the Trump presidency and the future of the Republic.
Instead of fighting the Democrats in Virginia, the Trump Team and MAGA Inc, is blowing tens of millions of dollars, $100 million+ by most estimates, trying to take out libertarian Rep. Thomas Massie and defending anti-conservative Senator John Cornyn of Texas.
Who funded this ballot campaign? Per The Hill, “More than $64 million went into Virginians for Fair Elections, the vote YES group, according to data from the Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP), including $40 million from House Majority Forward, a nonprofit aligned with Democratic leadership, and $12 million from The Fairness Project, a left-leaning advocacy group focused on ballot initiatives.” Democrat leaders raised and spent at least $52 million of the vote YES war chest.
And the latest reports show overall more like $65 million+ in dark money went to pay for Virginia’s gerrymandering efforts and only $1.5 million of that was actually from people who live in Virginia.
But that should have surprised no one – it’s been the pattern ever since Donald Trump was first elected.
It was also odd how the vote came to favor the Democrats. One analyst broke it down this way: 1.5 million absentee/early applications already processed before Election Day: 394,026 Permanent Absentee (automatic ballots every election) 1,077,320 Early In-Person 250k+ by regular mail.
Mail-in ballots accounted for the YES win, with a near 3 to 1 margin of 180,000+ to less than 70,000. Fairfax County alone accounted for what looks like exactly 35,000 mail-in ballots – not 34,978 or 35,110, but 35,000 on the dot.
And of course, the results from the Far Left jurisdiction of Fairfax County came in late, well after the totals from the conservative and soon to be disenfranchised southern and rural parts of the Commonwealth came in.
But that should have surprised no one – it’s been the pattern ever since Donald Trump was first elected.
And let’s not forget how Virginia’s Democrat Governor, former CIA official Abigail Spanberger, won her previous elections to Congress – a court order extended voting hours in friendly precincts and the late votes that came in on a magic thumb drive. The former CIA official won the seat with 50.1% of the vote, a pattern oddly repeated in the referendum.
Virginia has about 6 million registered voters. Last night, fewer than half of them (1.95 million) voted on a mid-decade redistricting plan that would turn the state from a Democrat majority of 6-5 to 10-1 in Congress, likely switching control of the U.S. House of Representatives to the Democrats.
The ballot measure barely won: 1.50 million to 1.45 million. So, a mere 25% of eligible voters (1.5/6.0) disenfranchised millions of Virginia Republicans, cancelled 4 of their Representatives, and caused a 9-seat swing favoring Democrats in the House.
While Republicans ignored the threat, Democrats resolved to win the Virginia referendum by any means necessary. Whenever you see votes in the millions, and the percentage difference is within 1%, it is an algorithm. Democrats won by 1.8% of a relatively small voter turnout. In a Color Revolution instead of voters choosing the government, the government chooses the voters, and that’s what happened in Virginia.
