Rasmussen Poll: 52% Support Trump’s Decision to Strike Iran


The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 52% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of Trump’s decision to attack Iran, including 35% who Strongly Approve. Forty-two percent (42%) disapprove of the attack, including 30% who Strongly Disapprove. 

In announcing Operation Epic Fury last week, Trump said: “An Iranian regime armed with long-range missiles and nuclear weapons would be a dire threat to every American. We cannot allow a nation that raises terrorist armies to possess such weapons.” Sixty-five percent (65%) of voters agree with that statement, including 45% who Strongly Agree. Twenty-four percent (24%) disagree with the Trump quote, including 10% who Strongly Disagree, and another 10% are not sure.

Other polls suggest similar levels of support.



Only nine percent (9%) think the current U.S. military operation against Iran should last a few more days, while 27% believe it should last a few more weeks. Twenty-three percent (23%) say the war in Iran should last more than a month, but 31% think it has gone on too long already, and 10% are not sure.

Sixty-eight percent (68%) of Republicans say the U.S. military operation against Iran should last at least a few more weeks, an opinion shared by 32% of Democrats and 50% of voters not affiliated with either major party. Nearly half (48%) of Democrats believe the war in Iran has gone on too long already, a belief shared by 11% of Republicans and 33% of unaffiliated voters.

Seventy-eight percent (78%) of Republicans, 27% of Democrats and 51% of unaffiliated voters at least somewhat approve of Trump’s decision to attack Iran. Forty-nine percent (49%) of Democrats Strongly Disapprove of Trump’s decision to attack Iran, as do eight percent (8%) of Republicans and 33% of unaffiliated voters.

Trump’s quote about a nuclear-armed Iran as “a dire threat to every American” wins agreement from 82% of Republicans, 54% of Democrats and 62% of unaffiliated voters.



A majority of voters favor President Donald Trump’s decision to order the U.S. military to destroy Iran’s nuclear weapons program and ballistic missile capabilities. Fifty-one percent (51%) of whites, 40% of black voters, 61% of Hispanics and 63% of unaffiliated voters at least somewhat approve of Trump’s decision to attack Iran. Black voters are most likely to say the war in Iran has gone on too long already.

More men (57%) than women voters (47%) approve of Trump’s decision to attack Iran. Men are also more likely than women voters to think the U.S. military operation against Iran should last at least a few more weeks.

Voters 65 and older are sharply divided over Trump’s decision to attack Iran — 44% Strongly Approve, but 39% Strongly Disapprove. More than half of voters 50 and older believe the U.S. military operation against Iran should last at least a few more weeks.

Breaking down the electorate by income categories, approval of Bush’s decision to attack Iran is highest among voters earning more than $200,000 a year. Those with annual incomes between $30,000 and $50,000 are most likely to think the war in Iran has gone on too long already.

Among those who voted for Trump in the 2024 presidential election, 83% at least somewhat approve of Trump’s decision to attack Iran, while 74% of Kamala Harris voters disapprove.

The survey of 1,085 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on March 3-5, 2026 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
